In July of 2021, Lake Genero was purchased by Kevin and Renee Kerns, a blue collar family from Delaware County, P.A. The Kerns family has three children and have begun this venture with the community in mind. Kevin and Renee come from similar backgrounds that were filled with struggle and sacrifice. As a child, Kevin moved on average every 6 months until settling into his home in Eddystone, P.A. At the age of 15, Kevin became involved in the Fire and EMS department which began his career in Emergency Services. For 20 years Kevin has been an EMT and Firefighter while also obtaining certification as an Emergency Dispatcher and working on specialized tactical teams. Through his background, Kevin developed Tri-State Training which is now a nationwide leader in life safety with an expertise in fire prevention, CPR, AED and First Aid.
With Lake Genero, Kevin and Renee do not take any proceeds. They invest 100% of the funds into the properties renovation and beautification as well as the employees. In the first 18 months, Lake Genero entertained over 10,000 guests with several private parties and multiple low cost community events. Genero was able to renovate the main entry road with new gravel, bathrooms, pavilion, snack bar and the original benches as the Kerns family is trying to salvage as much of the original Genero which dates back to 1949. Additionally, several features such as boat docks, swimming docks, glamping sites, RV hook-ups, a BIG chair for pictures and an Axe cage were all added to the property. Within the first 18 months, Lake Genero has developed several key relationships with local businesses as well as non for profit entities. Kevin and Renee graciously donated a combined $50,000 of charitable deductions to local non-for-profit entities which they plan to continue doing as long as Lake Genero prospers.
The 2023 season is upon us and we already have stronger partnerships, more bookings and metrics to improve our events and spending. Lake Genero welcomes any and all who wish to host a private party, rent out the entire property or enjoy a day while swimming, fishing, or finding a way to enjoy nature as well as the surrounding communities as the area has much to offer. We are looking forward to adding 4 brand new cabins, a general store and potentially another local business to the property this year.
